Cornelius Annor
(b. 1990) is a contemporary Ghanaian painter, best known for his group portraits that capture and showcase the vibrancy of everyday life. He is a graduate of the Ghanatta College of Art and Design. Drawing on childhood memories, family stories, and photographs, Annor depicts domestic scenes where figures watch television, read bedtime stories, or dance together. He uses Ghanaian fabric, repeating traditional patterns in the backgrounds of his paintings. Through this, the artist creates an atmosphere of layered memories, emotions, and experiences. His works have been exhibited in Accra, London, and New York, and are part of collections including The Bunker Artspace in West Palm Beach and Espacio Tacuari in Buenos Aires. In 2022, his works were displayed in the exhibition "Contemporary African Portraiture," curated by Florian Steininger, at the Kunsthalle Krems. Annor lives and works in Ghana, where he founded C.Annor Studio, a space dedicated to supporting and developing young artists.
