Julius Katende

(b. 1976) is a contemporary Ugandan conceptual artist, ceramicist, painter, sculptor, and installation artist. He lives and works in Kampala, Uganda. He graduated from Kyambogo University. The artist, who describes himself as a great lover of nature, draws inspiration from the beauty of African landscapes. He views art as a tool for thinking and dialogue, and his works often explore the relationships between humans, the environment, and spirituality, demonstrating how sound, movement, and matter can coexist in a single piece. He is the creator of a series of public art projects in Masaka, developed during an artist residency at 32° East | Ugandan Arts Trust, in collaboration with artist Rebecca Davies. His works have been widely exhibited in Uganda and internationally.
